The City of Los Angeles is in the Southern Californian basin (Pacific Ocean) and is most famous for being the world's entertainment industry center. Popular itineraries visit the Hawaiian islands, the Mexican Riviera, some even Alaska. If you're doing a Hawaii cruise from any of the four California ports, there are going to be long stretches of time at sea. From Los Angeles and San Francisco, it's four days cruising to and from the Hawaiian Islands. But if you sail from San Diego instead, the trip will take five sea days each way.
Award-Winning Cruises To & From California
Pier 27 and Pier 35 are approximately 2 miles ahead to the right. Santa Monica, Venice, Malibu and Long Beach are four of Los Angeles' most popular beach destinations. Of the four, Malibu is the most remote and least urban — head here for surfing and stand-up paddleboarding. Depending on traffic, you can get to Long Beach in 40 minutes, while the others take around an hour. Cruises to Mexico from Southern California typically run shorter, while cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and Europe run longer because of the distances involved to get to the destination. A recent survey from Cruise Lines International Association, a cruise industry trade group, found consumer intent to cruise is rebounding.
